Encounter 3: Story Encounter 1 Text

Success Results | Failure Results |
NAME saw a tree with roots that looked exactly like a gigantic spider. He/She walked up to it and peeked under its legs.
| |
That was when the mass of roots -- which actually was a giant spider -- tried to bite him/her. NAME's armor protected him/her, and he/she ATTACKED it twice before it went down. Then he/she noticed the tree's real roots also looked like a giant spider. Hidden beneath them was a sack of gold and an engraved silver bookmark.

Success Results | Failure Results |
After examining exactly eight hundred and fifteen rocks, NAME found one with a handprint in it.
| |
NAME placed his/her hand onto the carved hand shape and, with a loud click, the rock slid over on its own. NAME found a small pouch of gold and a pair of silver rimmed glasses.
|
NAME pushed and pulled, but could not move the rock. Exhausted, he/she leaned on the rock, putting his/her hand right into the handprint. With a loud click, the rock slid over on its own, revealing a small pouch of gold and a pair of silver rimmed glasses.

Encounter 9: Story Encounter 3 Text

Success Results | Failure Results |
After hours of poking around the lake, NAME still had no idea what "the sun honors the moon" meant.
| |
Then he/she spotted a tall rock with a hole near the top of it. From the right angle, the hole was moon shaped. NAME deduced where the sun would shine through the hole onto the sand (making a moon shape) and began digging. Soon he/she had a pouch of gold and a small silver rod. Pushing a button on the side of the rod made one end glow brightly.

NAME collapsed beside a tall rock. After an hour, two goblins popped out of the nearby underbrush and attacked. NAME defeated them, but was injured. Just then the sun came out. It shone through a hole near the top of the tall rock and made a moon shape in the sand at NAME's feet. He/She began digging and soon he/she had a pouch of gold and a small silver rod. Pushing a button on the side of the rod made one end glow brightly.

Encounter 12: Final Encounter Text

Success Results | Failure Results |
NAME knew immediately which tree he/she was supposed to be looking for -- the thing's branches were shaped just like a giant crown, complete with flowers in full bloom that looked just like jewels.
| |
NAME climbed up. It wasn't easy as the branches were far apart in some places and the smooth bark was rather difficult to hold onto. After searching every bough, he/she finally found a camouflaged box containing a silver-bound book and a pouch of gold. By this time it was dark, so he/she used the rod for light, put on the glasses and read the book, marking his/her progress with the silver bookmark. It was an illuminating experience.
|
NAME was so tired from the long day's adventures that he/she couldn't climb very high in the tree. He/she fell out of the tree, hit his/her head, and passed out. When he/she awoke, the bookmark, rod, and glasses were all missing from his/her pack.
